BLACKBERRY TIPS: HOW TO SOLVE UNEXPECTED MEDIA CARD ERRORS & SALVAGE DATA STORED ON YOUR MEDIA CARD
Mood:
bright
Topic: BLACKBERRY TIPS

If you’ve encountered an unexpected media card error on your Blackberry smartphone and to deal with it you’ve made a decision to drive to an area liquor store (do a personal evaluation, count to ten, then agree to give it one more try). When you encounter a media card error and you're trying to access data stored on the media card in your Blackberry do the following: Step 1: Simply try powering off your Blackberry device then removing the media card and rebooting your Blackberry smartphone. Step 2: Enable the media card’s settings and power off your Blackberry once again. Step 3: Reinsert the media card and reboot your Blackberry to see if the status as far as you being able to access the stored data has changed. Step 4: If not, turn off your Blackberry and remove your media card once again. Place the media card into a reader that can scan it for errors. Transfer any salvageable data stored on your media card into a folder on your computer via USB cable. Once you've accomplished this, format your media card then copy your files back onto your media card. Did you enjoy this post? Recommend www.theqbicle.com to a friend! HOW TO ADD EXTENSIONS TO NUMBERS YOU WANT TO SPEED DIAL ON YOUR BLACKBERRY (INCLUDING PASSWORD EXTENSIONS ON YOUR VOICEMAIL)
Mood:
bright
Topic: BLACKBERRY TIPS

If you love your Blackberry smart phone but hate having to dial in numbers along with their tedious extensions (including your voicemail’s password extension), here’s an easy way to do it so you won’t have to decide how you’re going to deal with that extension your new business contact just gave you: Step1: Enter the new contact number requiring an extension to get through or edit the existing contact number in your Blackberry. Step2: After you enter the last digit in the number sequence (555-123-1234, etc) press the Menu key and choose Add wait (on some models its Add Pause). Step3: Substitute or add a pause for every estimated second that lapses before the voice prompt of the number you're dialing chimes in requesting an extension or password. Step4: Then tag the extension to the end of this sequence. This should work! Did you enjoy this post? Recommend www.theqbicle.com to a friend! Copyright 2008 The Q-bicle. All rights reserved. HOW TO TRANSFER IMAGE, VIDEO AND MUSIC FILES FROM YOUR COMPUTER TO YOUR BLACKBERRY WITHOUT USING MEDIA MANAGER
Mood:
bright
Topic: BLACKBERRY TIPS

It's torture whenever we're caught off guard and a function gets flatly rejected by our Blackberry. It's easy to get a bit fed up when you can't go forward with an image, video, or music file transfer due to a stubborn Media Manager snafu. Argh! It's no secret troubleshooting a Blackberry smartphone can burn a lot of our time. Here's an excellent work around for systems where you do not have administrator access to (so many of the cool options on your system has been disabled) or you're simply having problems using Media Manager for image, video and music file transfers. Note: If possible, it is always great to use the latest version of Desktop Manager's Media Manager to accomplish this. If you are having difficulties with your Desktop Manager you may want to try uninstalling previous versions and installing the latest Desktop Manager software. Nine out of ten reasons why you may encounter setbacks using Destop Manager is usually directly as a result of not having administrator rights to your machine and your company's policy may have disabled a fair number of features.

HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE WHETHER YOUR BLACKBERRY IS RECEIVING AN INCOMING CALL, EMAIL, OR SMS MESSAGE

It's not uncommon for Blackberry smartphone users to have a strong desire to develop a better relationship with their Blackberry. Differentiating whether your Blackberry is receiving an incoming call or email as opposed to randomizing your guessing can improve this relationship. Here's how you can communicate better with your Blackberry by manipulating your Blackberry's profile settings: - Step 1: On your Blackberry, access your Profiles icon. Here you can manipulate settings such as Quiet, Normal, Loud, Vibrate, etc.
- Step 2: Roll the trackball and go to the option you wish to edit (in some Blackberry models you may need to select Advance in order to access then edit these features).
Step3: Assign attributes to your SMS messages, emails, incoming calls by selecting the number of vibrations, LED flashes, volume options, tones, or combination of vibrate plus a tone, etc. You can choose one buzz to notify you of an SMS message, 2 buzzes to notify you of incoming email, and three buzzes to inform you of an incoming call. The word Active will appear beside the active settings you have chosen.

BLACKBERRY WOES: WHAT TO DO IF YOUR EMAIL STOPS WORKING AND YOU CAN'T BROWSE THE WEB
Mood:
bright
Topic: BLACKBERRY TIPS

If you don't already know, to access and use certain Blackberry features a minimum version of Blackberry software is required and your Blackberry must have the benefit of both a voice and data service plan. Knowing this will help you breeze through correcting actual Blackberry issues, and what are perceived as Blackberry issues. There are a lot of reasons your Blackberry may not allow you to send email or browse the web. Here's a couple of tips you might find helpful. On the status bar of your Blackberry check your Blackberry's signal and battery strength. If battery is low, charge your Blackberry. If battery is full and you are still having this problem, check the network connection. Is "EDGE" (GPRS, NXTL, 1XRTT, EVDO, or similar) displayed in upper case letters or lower case letters. The casing of these markers will make a difference. If these markers are in lower case letters it means you've lost data connection. If these letters are upper case letters and the problem persists do the following. Sign onto your home computer, borrow a friend's PC, or use your local library's. Log on to your network provider's web site. Locate the link or button on their site which reads send service books. In theory, this should fix your email and web browsing problem. It may also be possible to bypass your home computer and do it directly from your Blackberry. Try doing the following: - Step 1: On your Blackberry's home screen click menu key.
- Step 2: Select the option setup internet email.
- Step 3: Create an account and password if this is the first time you're setting up an internet email account on your Blackberry.
- Step 4: If you already created an account. Simply log in. Roll the trackball down to settings and select the option service books.
- Step 5: An option will appear on your screen which reads send all. Click on your trackball to select the send all option.
- Step 6: Voila! Your connectivity should be re-established.
- Step 7: Using your trackball click ok. Then hit the escape key on your Blackberry. That should do it.

HOW TO UNLOCK YOUR BLACKBERRY SMARTPHONE
Mood:
bright
Topic: BLACKBERRY TIPS

One of the nice things about owning a Blackberry is that you can keep a controlling interest on your work wherever you go. If you frequently travel overseas for business and need a lifeline, those who own a Blackberry have first hand knowledge of how a Blackberry phone will improve your leaps and bounds. Ideally though, when you travel abroad you will want to save roaming expenses on a daily basis seeing usage fees will be higher and will accrue over time. To give yourself these kind of savings, you will need to swap your Blackberry's SIM card with a much cheaper carrier's SIM card, and should notice a usage price improvement. SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, simply means service information is stored on a removable plastic card that virtually lives inside of your Blackberry phone. GSM carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T usually load their Blackberry's device software to a locked SIM card for use on their network only. This means locked Blackberry's keep you from switching services by of course swapping SIM cards. To unlock your Blackberry, an unlock code is necessary. Some carriers such as T-Mobile will issue you an unlock code only after 90 days. You simply call up the customer service department, provide them with your IMEI number, and an unlock code will be issued. You might even be able to find an unlock code over the internet by doing a web search. It may take a little scouring. However, that's one of the least expensive places to begin. Simply enter your phone model along with the words unlock code. For instance "Blackberry 8830 unlock code", per say. Other third party players will unlock your Blackberry for a fee. Ever get the growing feeling that unlock codes are kept behind a paid wall? If you were fortunate enough to come across an unlock code for your Blackberry per say over the internet, you simply turn off your Blackberry, place the new SIM card into your phone, turn your Blackberry back on and turn wireless option off. You will need to access your blackberry's "MEPD" mode. On the home screen, roll trackball select options click trackball, roll trackball scroll to Advanced Options click trackball, roll trackball to SIM Card click trackball- hold the Alt key, type MEPD then MEPPD (characters will not appear while being entered--this is normal--the device will now open the Network MEP mode), wait for prompt to tell you to enter network MEP code. - Type in the unlock code
- Click trackball (or tap enter key then reboot).
Voila! Your Blackberry is now unlocked! TIP: Some Blackberry Curves from AT&T may not allow MEPD menu access without an AT&T or Cingular SIM card, but not all. Some Blackberry phones will even allow you to access MEPD menu without a SIM card. It never hurts to call your carrier for an unlock code even before 90 days or whatever specified time period is needed to be reached. They might agree to do it.
