Topic: BLACKBERRY TIPS

If you've said goodbye to PDA's and headed for greener pastures--upgraded to a Blackberry--hands down a Blackberry smartphone is a very exciting new higher-end toy to play with. Like any other electronic device that handles data and software, preventing data loss is always a big issue that needs to be addressed and regular back-ups are truly one of the most successful steps you can take toward really making your Blackberry deliver.
While it is rare, Blackberry smartphones provide proof that taking precuations is necessary. Worst case scenario, if you encounter a bump in the road, you'll still be able to take a leap forward having had all your data backed-up. It pays to protect yourself. Here's how:
Make sure you're running Blackberry Desktop software on your computer. In Desktop Manager use the back-up and restore feature to save files from your Blackberry to your computer. You can later use these saved files from your computer to restore any files that may have been corrupted or lost in your Blackberry. This way, you will have the option of making full back-ups or back-up specific data you choose.
Do the following:
- Step 1: Connect your Blackberry to your computer.
- Step2: Open the Desktop Manager.
- Step3: Open Back-up and restore.
- Step 4: Click Back-up if you wish to perform a full back up. If you wish to choose specific files to backup, click Advanced then select specific backups in the Handheld Databases box.
- Step 5: Make your selections then click save.
To restore data back to your Blackberry smartphone if ever you should need to, perform the following:
- Step 1: Connect your Blackberry to your computer.
- Step2: Open the Desktop Manager.
- Step3: Open Back-up and restore.
- Step 4: Click Advanced.
- Step 5: Go to file menu Open.
- Step 6: Locate your desired files.
- Step 7: Click open. Or choose databases from the Handheld Databases box. You will be asked if you wish to overwrite when you perform this kind of restore so reply yes.
